update

The last couple of days I have been sick. I went to the hospital for school to pick a patient for clinical and couldn't finish because I felt nauseated and thought I was going to pass out. I ended up dry heaving in a toilet there and thought that was proof enough to me that I would not be able to do clinical the next two days, therefore no need to pick a patient. I finally feel better and went to class today.

Second update, my dad moved to North Carolina about 2 weeks ago. He drove across the country with his girl friend far right in picture). He moved there for work (its quite the honor to work in this place for the post office) I do not approve of my dads girl friend. FYI That is my Grandpa Bill in the middle, he lives in Arkanasas so I don't see him much.

Nursing school

This semester has been a lot different then last year. The classes aren't so hard but the clinical part has more paper work and such. It strange not being with my old clinical group. We have our fist major Medical/Surgical test on Monday at 1000. Wish me luck. I like pictures and so have attached one of some of my Nursing school friends and I.

Peach season

Peach season is coming to a close :( Henry and I are sad about this, but we had some great times picking peaches. Here are some pictures to share with you.

Backpacking 08

Henry and I went to Revett lake in Thompson pass (a pass in between Idaho and Montana) It was a nice four mile round trip hike to a really nice mt. lake. We had some trouble with animals in our camp site at night so we spent much of the night chasing them away. It was also quite cold and that kept us awake at night as well. Needless to say, we had a good time just spending some time with each other. Enjoy the pictures.

Moe's Make Over

Before

During

After

We decided that it was not worth the money to finish Moe, nor could we afford to finish him so today the 20th or August he got his first MAJOR hair cut. Its pretty bad (thats why you only get to see his good side) :) We hope with time and practice we will get better at shaving him.

CNA

a couple of weeks ago I went and took a test to become a CNA. There was a written section that was 70 multiple choice questions. That part was a cake walk. Then there was a skills test. Everyone performed 5 skills and were graded on them. The skills were pre chosen for you. I waited 6 hours to take my skills test and was sure I failed when I was finished. I did a good job but most people walked out of their failing. I should have not compared myself to them, after all i'm a nursing major with the latest and greatest training. In the end I passed and was greatly relieved. SO what does this mean? I pay $15 more dollars to get a certificate that must be renewed on my birthday every year (they charge for that too.) I am suppose to get a raise but I don't thing that will ever happen, my work has a reputation for never getting around to giving you a raise. But it is something I have wanted since my freshman year of collage and now I have successfully done it. GO me.

Big news for Kanani

My good friend from ICN who was in clinicals with me last semester got engaged on the 13th. Please pray as her fiancé deploys for Iraq in about a week for a year. They are planning on getting married in spring 2010. I am so excited for her to see her grow and mature in christ as she ventures on this journey.

Sim man

Today I went to do a simulation on Sim man. We were test new scenarios for a major text book company. I have seen Sim man today but today I got to really know him. Sim many is a robotic patient who can do amazing things. When he breaths his chest moves, he can have blown pupils, his lips turn colors, He makes noises, chest and heart sounds and so many more things. They can even make him shoot out blood for extreme trauma situations. It is controlled by a person at a computer and eventually you will just put in a CD and it will run a scenario itself. I was told that many school have a sim man but few use them to their full potential like ICN does. Sim man takes lots of people to keep him running and in his best shape. This semester I will be working A LOT with sim man for my clinicals and classes. For those ICN students reading this, soon J1's will not have a skills test but many sim man check offs through out the year. Technology is really making better nurses!

Soon we will have a sim man that sweats, cries, foams at the mouth, his pupils dilate when you shine a light into them, and in years to come they are making a diversity friendly sim man so you can see how things look when a mexian patients has low oxygen saturation (lips turn blue.)Its all very interesting and exciting to me.

In this picture you see Henry's cousin on the left, his mom in the middle and Patty his older sister behind the menu. Henry's cousin from Brazil is studying abroad in NY and went to Portland for a visit. She then came to Spokane for a weekend to see Patty, Moe, Henry, and I. It was great to meet her. She is extremely beautiful and very fun to be around.

On the 5th of July the Palmers and Gilberts and Yans all went up to Blossom Lake in Tompson pass. It much harder then we expected. We all brought our dogs and moe caused quite a bit of fighting between the other dogs. It was lots of fun to go hiking and to get some exercise w/ our friends.

McConnell girls spend the night

About a month ago Bri and Ana spent the night w/ us. We went downtown to the fountain and had lots of fun. Here are a few more pictures.

Free toilet paper

Two night ago three young men we gracious enough to shower the Yan house with free toilet paper. What a gift! How did they know we were running Low? The weird part is they put it on our tree and around our porch, those things don't use toilet paper. :) For those who don't get my strange humor Henry and I got our house toilet papered the other night. Our first prank pulled on us as a married couple, how nice. :)

Father and Son race

This is a true story!
The son asked his father, 'Dad, will you take part in a marathon with me?'
The father who, despite having a heart condition, says 'Yes'.
They went on to complete the marathon together.
Father and son went on to join other marathons, the father always saying 'Yes' to his son's request of going through the race together.
One day, the son asked his father, 'Dad, let's join the Ironman together.'
To which, his father said 'Yes' too.
For those who don't know, Ironman is the toughest triathlon ever. The race encompasses three endurance events of a 2.4 mile (3.86 kilometer) ocean swim, followed by a 112 mile (180.2 kilometer) bike ride, and ending with a 26.2 mile (42.195 kilometer) marathon along the coast of the Big Island
Father and son went on to complete the race together.

Long Nights and Peter Pan

I started working night shifts about three weeks ago and let me tell you, wow is it a strange shift to work. We really don't do much but every inch of you body screams at you "why are you still up go to bed!" Last night we had an eventfull night, they changed what we did during the night and gave us more cleaning tasks to do. So instead of using my nursing skill I learned last semester, I'm learning the proper way to scrub a toilet and how to mop floor. It is simply busy work that I find to be a waste of time. Not much I can do though. It makes me long for when I am a nurse and I can boss all these people around. :P It also is hard to see these aged men a women struggle to do the simplest things knowing their isn't much I can do for them. Really makes you wish you could be peter pan and never grow old. A women fell last night and could not get up. Luckly the other person working with me was a man who could lift her. She struggles so hard just to get into bed and then this morning had no idea that she had fallen. Its sad, peter pan is lucky.

Maybe not married :P

Yesterday I went to get my name on my license changed and once I had already left I realized I forgot my license, so I turned back around to get it. When I finally got to the DOL and up to the counter the women asked me if my name new last name was Agoun. This is not my new last name, and I was quite confused. I looked at the marriage license and it was not ours. I have no idea how this all got so screwed or who has ours. Really make you want to put you trust in the government right?

Married at last!

We did it! Finally married and back from the honney moon. We went to Cancun Mexico and had a blast. But I don't want to get a head of myself. We had a lot of fun at the wedding as well. I look back and relize their were so many people I didn't get to see which makes me really sad. It was hard because on one hand I wanted to dance and party all night, but on the other hand I really wanted to sit and talk with all of our guests. I have to say the wedding probably couldn't have gone better. The only "Problems" I knew about is that we didn't get the music we had picked out for the ceremony played. Luckly Shanna our wedding planner (I highly recomend her) had spare music in her car. After the wedding I found out that our cake topper fell off the cake and left a big hole in the top of it. Opps :) We also had trouble with the music at the reception. It kept changing in the middle of songs to a theme of music Henry and I don't care for. It was no big deal, we still were able to dance, but it was a bit annoying.

After the wedding Henry and I went to our house, we spent sunday in CDA Idaho. We went to olive garden and went to see Prince Caspian the new Narnia movie. We also spent time packing and getting ready for Cancun. Monday I don't remember what we did, I know we ran a few places but can't remember where or why. Tuesday we left at 6AM and arrived in Cancun at about 8pm our time. We then had a hour drive to the resort and once we got their were quite hungry so it took a while before we were able to get to sleep. Then next day we spent mostly inside. It was so hot we didn't want to be outside. Thursday we went to see the Mayan Ruins in Tulum. These are the only ruin on the ocean and they are incredible! Friday we spent at the resort in the pool and saterday we went to the near by town for some shopping and the see one of the other resort owned by our same company. Saturday we meant to got to anouther resort that is suppose to be really really nice, but I accidentally made us miss the bus. We spent the day in the pool playing and it turned out to be one of my favorite days. Sunday we spent at the resort again and Monday we went snokoling and scuba diving! This was an amazing thing to be down 40 feet in the water. WOW! Tuesday we flew home and it again was a very long day of traveling. Wednesday we spent at home recovering from the trip and Thursday it was back to work for both of us.

That was very quick overview I know. Soon I will post pictures of the trip and the wedding.

update

much has happened in the last couple of weeks. I had finals and passed all my classes which was a huge relief. Then found a job. I started monday working at an assisted living home. It is a very easy job that will help me keep some of my skills up over the summer and also bring in some cash. As for the wedding we have 6 days to go. I'm getting really excited for the ceremony. we are trying to figure our order of service and looking at example ones makes me excited for my ceremony. As for the divorce, we still haven't heard a verdict. That was a quick update of the last two/three weeks.

Tuesday, April 22, 2008

Yesterday I had a big test the determined if I pass the class or not. I had to do a Head to Toe assessment on my partner. We both passes but it was very nerve racking. We both forgot to check to make sure their were pulses in both the upper extremities and the lower ones. luckily we were able to bring a note card with notes to look at after we finished. I strangely enough really enjoyed this test. We practiced several times (my partner Louly) and after we would practice we would just sit and talk. I was really great to get to know her more. I am also done with clinical. Thursday we are taking home baked goodies to the staff that worked with use, but I don't have to do anymore shifts their. We all passes that class so now all i have is written exams left. I would appreciate prayer for me as I take my finals next monday, tuesday, and Wednesday. It will be very nice to be done and just be able to focus on the wedding and setting up my new home.

Speaking of wedding Henry and I have been working hard to get everything done. Patty (henry's sister) is helping keep us on track. This will be good for Henry and I, I just hope I don't get overwhelmed. I hope the wedding can be somewhat casual, that people won't be freaking out because we didn't use enough toil or didn't have all the traditional things. I also hope that my family can get along. The rehearsal will be the first time my family will have been all together since the trial.

As for the trial we still have not heard a verdict.

So much to do so little time

Wow I haven't written in a long time! I've been really busy but I'm not really sure with what. Henry and I have been spending some good time together watching House. Its a great way for both of us to relax after a long day. I love being able to actually know the medical terms they use and trying to catch their mistakes. I also really love snuggling with Henry during it. I never thought I would be this much of a snuggler. Wedding plans are slowly coming along. If anyone from VBC is reading this the wedding is an open invitation to you. We didn't want to hand make invitations for every person in the church. Henry sent for a sizer for his ring yesterday, we filled out the paper work for our photographer of what picture we want. We also started to assign people to jobs. We are having my auntie and my mom help decorate the church which is a huge relief to me. It is just one less thing to worry about. I got my bra and slip for my dress, so the only thing missing is Jewelry, I need to barrow some dangly earrings oh and get a guarder too. We went to order our toasting flutes today but they were out  but soon we will be able to order them! We have so many thing that we still need to do like pick a cake, rent everything we need, plan the detail of the wedding day (make and order of service) but I'm not worried. If things are planned or something doesn’t' get done I'm ok with that.

Last night Henry through me a "surprise" birthday party. I say "surprise" because he kind of gave it away before it even got started. oops. I can be a hard person to surprise. We went to our friend's house and had pizza and cake. Then we all went to Ella's a small Jazz club in downtown Spokane. That was fun, the drummer was really loud however so it made it hard to talk.

As for school I finished my two big papers for the semester and am getting ready for finals. I'm trying to work a head but its hard to do. I worked really hard last week and may need to take a little break this week. I was getting up early and staying up late working on different assignments. I started to feel a little sick yesterday so I guess that means I should maybe get 8 solid hours of sleep.

For any who don't know my parents trial started last monday. It was suppose to be done Thur. but it has been extended to next wed.

Comic Relief

A friend at school told me about this and i was cracking up. It might have been because i was stressed over my test, or this could actually be good, you be the judge.

Invitations

Monday Henry and I sent out our first invitations. We still have a lot to send out, but I feel like we're over the mountain or at least at the top of it. Next on the list, decorations for the church. Any suggestions?

Recovery

Pain is not so much fun...especially when your dog jumps on your stitches. Yes that is right Moe the dog is not my favorite thing right now. He jump on my stitches, walked all over me today, broke the door, put his paws on the counter (which he has never done and knows he’s not suppose to) keeps me up at night with either barking or laying on me. It’s a good thing he is cute or otherwise he would be out on the street. Ok well maybe not on the street cause I do love him.
Recovery time is officially over now; I start school back up again tomorrow, off to the races again.
On the side of good news, I turned in a research paper I had been working on and my teacher thanked me for actually writing on something interesting, WOW, how often do you get a teacher to thank you. Also I just found out that I am now passing Patho/Pharm. I have a 73.33% (73% is failing) so yeah for passing.

Growing stronger

Well i am finally able to be out of bed for a while each day and can even sit sometimes! Wedding plans are coming a long, we have all the invitations all glued together, not to spray them, stuff them, and then address and mail them.. wow that list seems long. Planning this wedding has been so diffrent then what i expected, i knew it would be stressful and difficult, but i didn't think that it would make me so upset and make me almost hate weddings. Maybe that is the best advicate for not getting divorced is you never have to plan anouther wedding. :) I will be so glad when its all over. It hasn't all been bad, i really like buying my dress and getting it fitted the other day, something about my dress makes me feel like a million bucks and like I'm the most beautiful person in the world. I know henry's going to love it, i can't wait to see his face when i walk down the isle.

I have been really emotional this weekend and Henry has been so sweet to me, he brought me chocolate, watched movies with me, let me choose what we did, got me ice, food, drinks, pain killers, and even read to me. He is one of the most caring me I know. He is also one of the most patient people i know, when i'm crying over petty things he gently helps me to regain my composure, he has a way of doing that with me. He hasn't given up on me even though i am horrible at controlling what i say and my emotions, i yell at him, say mean thing, and all sort of other thing, but it doesn't fase him, he takes in all in stride. I guess he read the fine print to this package deal beforehand. I think it also helps that he has two sister. So thank you for making you brother a sweet, caring, and gental man Esther and Patty.

day two

well yesterday i accomplished much i updated my facebook, checked my email, watch a movie and some tv, even decided on a cake topper for the wedding. My big task of the day is i got our of bed and was able to walk around a little bit. It was really tiring so then i laid back down and henry killed me in a board game. Today on my today list, read my research articles so i can write my paper that was due on Tuesday, price steaks for the rehearsal dinner, research columns to decorate with, the biggest of them all is take a shower and put on some clean cloths. I know if have such a hard life :P o wait not i don't. I'll keep you posted on if i can actually accomplish all these things.

Tiny Chapel

I found this poem in a deli way up the Skagit River and really liked it. I just re-found it on my computer today and thought i would share it.

Just a Tiny Chapel

It was just a tiny chapel,
That came upon my way.
No bigger then a doll house,
Where children go to play.
There was something very peaceful,
I felt it all around ,
As I knelt before the altar,
I could feel God’s love abound.
Inside the tiny chapel,
I sat alone and cried.
But they were tears of happiness,
As I remembered why Jesus died.
I could only stay awhile,
But I turned before I left,
To gaze upon the beauty,
Our dear lord had graciously sent.
It was just a tiny chapel,
That came upon my way.
Imbedded in my memory,
Forever and a day

Happy Bday to me!

yesterday was my 21st b-day. Most people would go out and drink right? not me...I decided that instead i would have a fatty lump removed from my inner leg. can i say PARTY! I figured the effects were similar, wake up groggy the next day, spend the day in bed, puke up a bunch of stuff ect. I will have to say that my way of celebrating was more expensive then the traditional way, but i guess i just like expensive things. :)

On a serious note... it is so weird to be the patient and not the nurse. I told all my nurses that i was in nursing school and they all said "good we all want to retire someday and someone has to replace us"
Furthermore it is amazing what humans can do to other human bodies but more amazing is how drugs effect our bodies. All i remember is i was sitting in a chair talking to my mom then the next thing i knew i was laying in a bed drinking apple juice with an ice pack between my legs. My mom said i was pretty loopy when i woke up, I thought i was being very rational...guess thats what drugs do to you (kids, stay off drugs.) God has truly blesses us with the ability to "fix" one anouther. I say "fix" because we as human don't do anything that God doesn't allow. As Proverbs 16:9 says man plans his steps but it is God direct his way (very rough translation, give me a break i had surgery)

It is nice to have this time to sleep and catch up on things, but it is still strange not to be able to run at a million mile per hour getting all my school work done and wedding things done as well.

Please pray i have a full and speedy recovery (i have research paper to write) and that God would use this time to speak to me and grow me.

Dress alterations

I had my first dress fitting today! Its going to be so pretty!!! It reminded me of the newest fasion in tank tops, take a look

What do you think? I was thinking I would wear this all summer long, maybe even to my clincal.

California

My Dad took me to the zoo for my 21st birthday. I LOVE ANIMALS!

We also shopped A LOT and finally found my wedding shoes. I tried to find a picture for y'all but i couldn't :( i guess it will just be a surprise for everyone :)

This has been a busy week for me, I had several meetings with teachers because of some bad exams in a couple of my classes. Furthermore I got my engagement ring. When Henry proposed he had my wedding band and a loose diamond. That way i got to pick my setting and i finally got the BIG ring.

San Diego is a really pretty place and I am glad that I live in a county that i am able to get on a plain and be thousands of miles away in 2 1/2 hours.
