Sim man

Today I went to do a simulation on Sim man. We were test new scenarios for a major text book company. I have seen Sim man today but today I got to really know him. Sim many is a robotic patient who can do amazing things. When he breaths his chest moves, he can have blown pupils, his lips turn colors, He makes noises, chest and heart sounds and so many more things. They can even make him shoot out blood for extreme trauma situations. It is controlled by a person at a computer and eventually you will just put in a CD and it will run a scenario itself. I was told that many school have a sim man but few use them to their full potential like ICN does. Sim man takes lots of people to keep him running and in his best shape. This semester I will be working A LOT with sim man for my clinicals and classes. For those ICN students reading this, soon J1's will not have a skills test but many sim man check offs through out the year. Technology is really making better nurses!

Soon we will have a sim man that sweats, cries, foams at the mouth, his pupils dilate when you shine a light into them, and in years to come they are making a diversity friendly sim man so you can see how things look when a mexian patients has low oxygen saturation (lips turn blue.)Its all very interesting and exciting to me.
