cooper adventures

Cooper is now 8 months old! He is growing up fast. He finally learned how to lift his leg and not fall over. He is still working on his aim, but he is getting better. :)

He is back in obedience classes slowly learning how to obey. Last week I took him to class by myself which was no big deal. I was looking forward to it a little bit. I got to Petsmart, opened the back hatch of the car Cooper faked to the right, I leaned to catch him just in time for him to jump out the left side of the car and run straight to the front doors of PetSmart. When he got to the doors I thought "oh good they doors will stop him" he ran head first into the automatic door that didn't open when he ran up to them. He took a couple steps back, the doors opened, and in ran Cooper with me chasing after him leaving the car doors open. Luckily Cooper ran straight in to class and not to the small animal section. I got Cooper on his leash and went back to lock the car and get everything situated.

Later in class we were suppose to be working on a sit stay. Cooper was sitting next to a fish tank. He was casually looking around and pressed his nose against the class of the fish tank. The fish scattered and you could see a light go off in Cooper's head. So Cooper spent the remainder of his Sit-Stay looking away from the fish and then suddenly look back at the fish pressing his nose against the glass making them once again scatter. He was quite proud of himself.

He is quite good at entertaining himself. Yesterday as I was getting ready for bed Cooper noticed himself in our floor length mirror. He gave a little woof so I walk over to see what it was about. Suddenly Cooper realized I was in the mirror too! Cooper started barking, growling, and backing away from the mirror. I went over to the mirror and sat down by it. Cooper slowly moved closer and closer to the mirror until his nose touched the mirror. He jumped back and growled. He continue trying to sniff the dog in the mirror, but it just kept copying him. Finally I had to make it so he couldn't see in the mirror so that we could go to sleep. Silly puppy. I love his antic. It is hard not to laugh when he decides to be cute. How could someone not love and Irish Water Spaniel?

Update

well Cooper graduated puppy class. We are now looking at doing more training with him. He has learned to climb over our little temporary fence we have up, and onto the furniture, but over all we are still in love with the little guy.

Henry and I are doing well. We are enjoying having weekends off together. We also have a good friends living with us. Her name is Jessica and we are trilled to have her. She is learning all about dog care and training. She is job hunting at this time so she stays home with Cooper during the week. Cooper absolutely loves her. Every morning after he eats he goes and sits buy her door looking up at the door knob with a look on his face saying "please come out and play Jessica." It is pretty stinking cute. Here are some pictures I took yesterday evening.

Hope you are all doing well. Happy 4th of July!

Silly Puppy

For several weeks Cooper has been chewing on himself. He has always chewed on his tail but now he has started chewing on other appendages. He will lay there for 1-2 minutes just chewing on his front leg. It is a strange thing, but I rather he chew on himself than me.

Last weekend Cooper was playing with Reecee and got tired. She was sleeping on his bed so where could Cooper sleep? Well he found a place. This is the bin we store our shoes and towels when we go outside with Cooper. He was quite happy to sleep there. Silly Puppy.

Swimming, and the bottle

On Sat. we took Cooper to the lake and he went swimming. He retireved my flip flop. I think he would do practicly anything for a flip flop. He went in about 5 times and then sat on the beach shivering. It was pretty cold water. We walked around a part near by and everyone who saw cooper loved him. He got called everthing from "the president's dog" to a cockerdoodle. Oviously he is an Irish water spaniel. He also met my aunt and uncle and chased a waterbottle that was tied to a string for at least an hour. On monday he played with Nalla and she taught him how to stick his head underwater to pick it up out of the pool. Cooper was adorable with his ears floating on top of the water and him blowing little bubles out of his nose. So CUTE! Here are some pictures from the weekend.

Playing with the big dogs.

Cooper is growing like a weed. He is now 21.4 pounds! He has learned to play with the big dogs now and often returns from playing with them with big tuffs of hair in his mouth. He has been really good with the new babies around. He wants to play with them and explore their hands with his mouth, but he has been resisting the temptation. The weather should be nice this weekend so hopefully we can take him swimming again.

I started my new job and have been enjoying it. It is really nice to work "normal" hours and have my weekends off. It has been a challenge to get my chores done around the house when I am working full time, but we are figuring it out.

Hope you enjoy the pictures:

Cooper update

So Cooper is still cute as a button, still bitting, but we have a new technic we are going to try. So hopefully that goes well. He went for his first swim this week. He waded in and swam briefly after a stick. He loves a good stick. It was very cold and he doesn't have much hair or fat to keep him warm, so one swim was enough for him. He also tried to sneak up on a Robin this week with little success, a guess a dark brown puppy on short green grass sticks out a little. Weird, I know :) Cooper also discovered that Moe's tail is a really fun thing to chase, especially when it is wagging. Moe doesn't seem to mind, but we'll see what happens when Cooper actually catches Moe's tail. Here are some picture from his first day swimming, and misc. pictures from around the house. ENJOY!
