Backpacking 08
Henry and I went to Revett lake in Thompson pass (a pass in between Idaho and Montana) It was a nice four mile round trip hike to a really nice mt. lake. We had some trouble with animals in our camp site at night so we spent much of the night chasing them away. It was also quite cold and that kept us awake at night as well. Needless to say, we had a good time just spending some time with each other. Enjoy the pictures.

CNA
a couple of weeks ago I went and took a test to become a CNA. There was a written section that was 70 multiple choice questions. That part was a cake walk. Then there was a skills test. Everyone performed 5 skills and were graded on them. The skills were pre chosen for you. I waited 6 hours to take my skills test and was sure I failed when I was finished. I did a good job but most people walked out of their failing. I should have not compared myself to them, after all i'm a nursing major with the latest and greatest training. In the end I passed and was greatly relieved. SO what does this mean? I pay $15 more dollars to get a certificate that must be renewed on my birthday every year (they charge for that too.) I am suppose to get a raise but I don't thing that will ever happen, my work has a reputation for never getting around to giving you a raise. But it is something I have wanted since my freshman year of collage and now I have successfully done it. GO me.
Big news for Kanani
My good friend from ICN who was in clinicals with me last semester got engaged on the 13th. Please pray as her fiancé deploys for Iraq in about a week for a year. They are planning on getting married in spring 2010. I am so excited for her to see her grow and mature in christ as she ventures on this journey.
Sim man
Today I went to do a simulation on Sim man. We were test new scenarios for a major text book company. I have seen Sim man today but today I got to really know him. Sim many is a robotic patient who can do amazing things. When he breaths his chest moves, he can have blown pupils, his lips turn colors, He makes noises, chest and heart sounds and so many more things. They can even make him shoot out blood for extreme trauma situations. It is controlled by a person at a computer and eventually you will just put in a CD and it will run a scenario itself. I was told that many school have a sim man but few use them to their full potential like ICN does. Sim man takes lots of people to keep him running and in his best shape. This semester I will be working A LOT with sim man for my clinicals and classes. For those ICN students reading this, soon J1's will not have a skills test but many sim man check offs through out the year. Technology is really making better nurses!
Soon we will have a sim man that sweats, cries, foams at the mouth, his pupils dilate when you shine a light into them, and in years to come they are making a diversity friendly sim man so you can see how things look when a mexian patients has low oxygen saturation (lips turn blue.)Its all very interesting and exciting to me.
In this picture you see Henry's cousin on the left, his mom in the middle and Patty his older sister behind the menu. Henry's cousin from Brazil is studying abroad in NY and went to Portland for a visit. She then came to Spokane for a weekend to see Patty, Moe, Henry, and I. It was great to meet her. She is extremely beautiful and very fun to be around.
